Blackford Vet Surgery Referral

This place is FABULOUS! I sincerely can not say enough good things. After a bad experience at an emergency vet my dog needed surgery to fix his dislocated hip. When I called Blackford and gave them the backstory they contacted the emergency vet to get records so I wouldn't have to. Day of surgery they walked me through everything, were very patient and took their time gaining my dogs trust. When I picked him there were no hidden charges, the bill was a little less than they had quoted (always nice), they gave me a tote with his medications inside, a reusable hot/cold pack, sling to help him walk, bag of pill pocket treats, pages of aftercare instructions printed and carried him to the car, set him up for the ride home. They even called the next day to see how he was doing. I have never even gotten service like this for myself. ha ha. He is healing beautifully and we did a hip toggle instead of an FHO (everyone wants to do an FHO and I never liked it) to do the hip toggle and save his joint was just another level of care. Most vets want to do the quicker/ cheaper option. If you need special surgery, go here! They're worth it!!

My 60 pound pit mix got TPLO surgery at Blackford on May 18th. He just got his x-rays yesterday confirming bone is fused. I delayed in getting this surgery because I was so nervous about it, tried conservative management for a year prior. Very happy we did the surgery, my dog has his life back. Dr. Callie did a great job & was very responsive when I had questions throughout recovery. A couple of recommendations if you decide to do surgery: Help Em Up Harness was HUGE for my dog as he is very reactive. It allowed me complete control during our rehab walks and was indispensable. If you have a large aggressive or reactive dog I'd say this is 100% needed for recovery. Puppy pads for the first few days after anesthesia saved me a lot of headache. Pill pockets and x-pen were also helpful. My dog hates being in a crate but handled the x-pen very comfortably.

The staff at Blackford Vet Surgery were amazing! Our sweet boy, Dilly, was referred there by UT Veterinary Clinic because he needed surgery sooner than they would be able to do it. We were able to get the surgery done quickly and the surgeon did an excellent job! She explained exactly what would happen before his surgery, and his recovery went exactly as she described. Thank you for taking such great care of our sweet boy!!

Romeo was referred to Blackford Veterinary Hospital for dental care, and this was our second visit. As always, the facility was exceptionally clean, and the front desk staff was welcoming, kind, and professional. Dr. Burton and the entire team were incredibly patient, thorough, and genuinely caring. They treated Romeo as if he were their own, which made the experience much less stressful for both of us. When I had difficulty administering his medications at home, Dr. Burton personally followed up and was quick to offer guidance and support. One of the things I appreciate most is how comfortable and relaxed Romeo is during his visits. Seeing him at ease gives me peace of mind and reassures me that he is receiving excellent care. I highly recommend Blackford Veterinary Hospital to anyone looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable veterinary team.
